In my personal opinion.... I support legal immigration. I don't think we should block people from coming over so long as they are coming over legally. I think we should have strict penalties for illegal immigrants though.
I almost feel like America is being invaded by illegal immigrants. It should not be allowed and I am happy that as a country we are finally taking a harder stance on the issue.
Also, I am tired of hearing about how I (or we) should learn Spanish or any of the languages of these "invading" people. I strongly feel that anyone coming to our country should be required to learn English first. period.
Yes, especially down in South FL around Miami, it's almost like you have to speak spanish to make it down there. It's ridiculous. I don't down the spanish language or heritage but you're in the US, you speak english here.

I was just hearing about the ZERO TOLERANCE policy for illegal aliens in Del Rio, Texas. They strictly enforce the border using current law and have set a benchmark for other border towns and states. They have done it with local resources and are committed to shutting the illegal flow of aliens off. No thanks to our current administration. They even have the support of the Hispanic community there. Now there you go. Americans taking action (legally) when the federal goverment sits on its behind.
I didn't read the article but I like the concept. As long as they're doing it legally I have no problem with it. Again, I stand behind legal immigration (After all, no one in the US is a native besides the native americans). We were all immigrants at one time so let's remember that.
But people sneaking in and doing it illegally really chaps my ass.

A little sidebar:
The Native Americans were immigrants at one time too. A fact which seems to escape many. They did not just *poof* and appear. There are many different theories including the land bridge to Eurasia from Alaska or migration of tribes from South America north or from the north going south.
The Kennewick Man which was discovered over 9 years ago in Washington state on the banks of the Columbia River, is nearly 9,000 years old. The native tribes sought to keep the remains from being scientifically examined. They lost in court and the Kennewick Man was put under the microscope. He was found to be Causasian and some say bore a uncanny resemblance to Egypt's Pharaoh Tutankhamun. I'm sure there are many undiscovered things that would turn our history around.
The last item that has always bothered me was the invasion of Spain on South America by the Conquistadors. America was blasted for not making reparations to African Americans for forcing them into slavery and for putting Native Americans on reservations. Why has Spain never been held accountable for wiping out native tribes in South America and causing widespread disease and stealing all the gold? Native South Americans did not speak Spanish then, they had their own written languages. Due to Spains invasion they speak it now in various dialects and most of the tribes have disappeared. (That is another topic)
Without even reading all of that lets just eliminate that we are immigrants, because that is ridiculous. We claimed this land (by force and regardless of what you think, that just is the way it was back then)when there was no formal America. Once the formal country boundaries were put in place, only then can we make the distinction. Were the Indians here before us, sure, but that is ancient history. The clear fact right now is that people not from this country are streaming across our boarders and trying to get in every day. If 9/11 did one thing it did force the protection of our borders in a quicker fashion then it would have been without it.
I agree 100% that illegal immigrants should not be allowed in. If someone is legitimately applying for citizenship, why not? Now obviously we need to limit the amount but we shouldn't forbid it. We do need to crack down on the illegal immigration.
I know you say the above is ancient and that's the way things were but back then, it wasn't ancient and they were here and we forced them off. Now obviously no one would be strong enough (IMO) to do that to us but what if there was, would it be ok for them to come push us out?
I would prefer to deal with reality, and the reality is that currently that is not going to happen. But to entertain your question - would it be OK? Ultimately the answer is yes. We would fight back like the Indians did way back when, and if a stronger force over powered up completely then yes, it would be OK. Our entire history of man is basically that over and over. One group overpowers another. Right or wrong, it just ultimately is the way it is.
I tell you, I work for an International Program office and relate with people from All Over the world. Many of them, when there duty is up want to stay in good ole US of A and go to great lengths to obtain that... and many don't get accepted. However folks who illegally come into our country, work for wages much less then our minimum wage and prevent our worker force from jobs are wecomed? Come on people, I say, the only folks that benefit from illegal immegration are business! Business can charge the same rate for less wages! Plus, at least here in good ole Califorina, the illegal immegrants seem to be able to drive around our roads without insurance, we provide education for their children and medical care.... Come on, I don't want to pay for illegal immagrant care! The Goverment poo poo's the fact that they can't send everyone back becuase there are just too many of them Duh!!! doesn't that indecate a problem, so instead, they want to make them legal. but wiht a fee attached to it... Like the illegal immegrants are really going to pay the fee! jees... I need a drink LOL

These immigrants have been paid under the table for years. I believe there are over 10 million living in the united states as of now (Not perfectly sure). If we are to severely punish the immigrants for coming over here, we should punish all the people that hired them in the first place.
That's a four Paws and a Tail salute, if the business's would have obeyed the law, we'd have some illegal immegration still, however, it wouldn't be the epidemic it is now... Anyone of the few Legal citizens of Southern California (still left) can echo that!

Part of me wants to write so much, but the defeatest in me recognizes that changing the mindset of a person dead set on seeing immigrants as "invaders" is a waste of time.
It is my hope that at some point in your life you are the "other" and will be faced with the kind of predjudice you exhibit.
How are they not invading? Yeah they're leaving a bad environment but that's still invading. If I don't like it here in my home and just go to my neighbors house and go in like I lived there, that's invading.

1) there is no alarming illegal immigration issue.
2) there is no official language of the USA, the language is decided by its population. are puerto ricans amercan citizens? yes, is their native language spanish? yes. should they be forced to give up there culture because some ignorant red neck thinks he is superior? ahhhhhh no.
what about hawaiians, is their native language english?

5) illegal immigration has ALWAYS been a problem, why is suddenly such a BIG problem now? why is so important to crack down now, to spend billions building a fucking wall that isn't going to keep anybody out, that is going to take an increase in law enforcement authorities and a large budget to staff? they are building a wall around the "land of the free" and nobody seems think that's a bit strange in an oxymoronic kind of way.
