It is all posturing right now, on both sides.
In addition, I honestly feel that many of the "front runners" will be falling out of the race when the media finds something negative about them. This happens every single big election and someone will do something, or has done something, that will have them falling out of the race.
I think the people who think that the main 2 or 3 candidates on each side are set in stone right now are completely wrong.
Yeah, the next thing we need is our next President swearing an oath to the Koran.... oh wait he's not Muslim anymore.... or is he.... this thread just may make it to the Consipiracy area yet...
I have a feeling that you might see them together on the same ticket once one takes the clear lead. I am not sure if together they are a positive thing for the democrats, or a negative one.

Like you mentioned before, its way too early on to even accuratly predict who will be wear and for whom and for how many cookies.
If I were to call it out now, I would see "Hillary and Hussain" as the Dem leaders in that order at this point.
On the Rep. side I would say , ugh I am so undecided here...
Havent gotten into the 3rd parties yet... I just wish they had more a presence to be considered...

I am a big Christian (hence my Signature), but our government is secular. If someone of the Islamic faith could lead this country forward, I would vote for him or her.
I am leaning toward Barack at this point (He is a Christian, for future reference). However I have no idea who I will eventually end up supporting. I will be 3 months out of being able to vote in the 2008 elections (I'll be 17 and like 9 months), so it does not matter a big deal to me anyway.
I say this with COMPLETE honesty, but this country is not ready to vote for EITHER an African American or woman for President. I have no doubt that it will happen someday, but even my African American friends don't think Obama has a real chance. He will make some noise and is definitely the most legitimate shot to date, but I just don't see it happening yet.
I agree with you TVD, I dont think that this country is ready yet... although, I must say, I am kinda interested to see what Hilary would do. Its gonna be interesting, thats for sure.
I feel like quoting nearly every single post here and rebutting or at least sharing my own points of view on all of them.
Who is to say what the country is "ready" for and why does one need to "be prepared" to accept a leader who either not white or not male or not a Christian (though Barack is)?
I think it shows personal bias against the candidates to assume that the country as a whole would have a difficult time accepting them.
As for the slam about swearing on a Koran - I am of the mind that the solemn oath of office for presidency ought to be sworn onto whatever holy book or deeply held conviction the person taking office has. It is fear mongering behavior to suggest that a vote for Obama would result in the Koran being used in place of a bible.

I literally work with a majority of minorities (that sounds funny) and in many cases in my work environment I am the minority (as a white man). And even the people I am around every day, who are educated African Americans, ultimately don't think Barack has a chance...yet.

Fairy tales, fables, folk lore, and personal beliefs should not factor into running a country or the government, but sadly they do.
In Denmark we have free health care... OK we pay a lot of tax for it but in the end it works fine. No homeless people.. No pore people. It can be done and we are not communists...
